John Gates Joins CropMetrics as Chief Science Officer

 NORTH BEND, NE – January 14, 2018 – CropMetrics – the leader in precision irrigation software and analytics, and developer of the Virtual Optimizer platform –  today announced that John Gates, Ph.D., has joined the Nebraska-based company as Chief Science Officer.

Previously, Dr. Gates has been in a scientific leadership role at The Climate Corporation (now part of Bayer Crop Sciences) leading water and nitrogen modeling as a key developer of the Climate FieldView platform’s fertility management tools.   

A native of Arkansas, he holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. from Oxford University (Geographic Sciences), and a B.Sc. from the University of Arkansas (Mathematics). He is the author of more than 40 publications and 8 patents (granted and pending) in the water, irrigation and digital agronomy space, and is a Fellow of the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska.
